Delete Old iPhone Backups on Mac (Recover 10GB–100GB)
iPhone backups are a sneaky storage killer. One backup can be huge, and old ones pile up fast. Here’s how to delete the right backups without regrets.
1) Delete backups the official way
On macOS Catalina or later:
- Connect your iPhone
- Open Finder → select your iPhone in the sidebar
- Click “Manage Backups…”
Delete old backups and keep the latest one.
2) Find MobileSync backups (manual)
Finder → Cmd + Shift + G:
~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup
Each folder is a backup.
3) Don’t delete the wrong one
If you still rely on local backups, delete older ones first.
If you use iCloud and you’re confident, you can remove most local backups.
4) Easier cleanup
CleanDiskGo helps you spot storage hogs and clean safely.
